World’s Most Expensive Digital Camera
Most Expensive Digital Camera in the World!
World’s Most Expensive Digital Camera is amazing!
Because we evolved, we wanted to remember the moments we live, and for that, we created the camera.
It is a device dating back to the ancient Chinese and ancient Greeks which uses a pinhole or lens to project an image of the scene outside upside-down onto a viewing surface.
Since then, the camera is part of our lives and we carry it every day with us on our mobile phone. However, there are people who can afford more, so luxury cameras were created.
The costliest digital camera in the world is a 92-year-old called Leica and was sold at WestLichtPhotographica auction in Vienna, Austria.
On May 12th, a new record was set for the highest priced digital camera, a device which was sold to an anonymous bidder from Asia.
With the price tag of 2,160,00 EUR ( around 2,790,000 USD), this camera is one of 12 surviving models of the legendary 0-series which was originally made in 1923 as an early prototype for the compact and durable Leica A.
The previous record world’s most valuable digital camera went again to Leica for a MP2 that sold for $402.000 in December of 2010.
The camera is in excellent and fully working condition, except that a small missing piece of leather on the side has been replaced with contemporary vulcanite by Ottmar Michaely.
All parts, including the paint, are original, with matching lens cover and the folding finder has been replaced by the leather Galilean.
All the Leica cameras can easily brake the previous record for the World’s Most Expensive Digital Camera because of their enormous prices.
For example: One of only 2 existing M3 Leica cameras (Lot 113), that was officially gold plated by Leitz, was sold for 360.000 Euro (starting price 40,000; Estimate 70,000 – 90,000 Euro).
A 250FF (Lot 34), one of the most exiting screw-mount Leica cameras ever offered for sale in auction, climbed from a starting price of 12.000 to 120.000 EUR.
An Elcan 1/90mm + KE-7A (186) had a 228.000 EUR collector’s value.
This ultra-rare and extremely fast lens was produced for the US Navy, only 10 of these were made. These are the first lens in the series and were for the first time offered in auction.
