Sim’s Park

Laid out in 1874 by Mr. J.D. Sim, Sim’s Park is a well maintained botanical garden situated in the mesmerizing hill town of Coonoor. Spread over an area of 30 acres, it is one of the best Tourist Places in Coonoor. Sim’s Park was started as a pleasure resort for the residents and visitors, and later developed into garden. It has wonderful landscaped gardens & walkways lined up with beautiful flowers plants collected from different parts of the country. There is a lake inside the park that offers boating facility as well. Annual Fruit and Vegetables show attracts large number of tourists which held in the month of May every year. This is a natural garden. Inside the park there are some beautiful terrace with colorful flower beds, lawns and rockeries.

Lamb’s Rock

Situated on the slopes of the Nilgiri mountains, Lamb’s Rock is a popular viewpoint and also one of the must visit places in Coonoor. It was named after the then collector Captain Lamb who developed this place in his interest. The mountain cliff around Lamb’s Rock stands at a height of 5000 feet above sea level and stand out for its jagged look. Lamb’s Rock offers spectacular views of the Nilgiri hills and Coimbatore Plains. Trekking is the best way to reach this spot. 

Dolphin’s Nose

Situated at an altitude of 1000 feet, Dolphin’s Nose is an enormous rock formation that is entirely unique. It is one of the most spectacular vantage points in Coonoor and among the top places to experience Coonoor Tourism. The tip of the peak resembles the nose of a dolphin, hence the name Dolphin’s Nose. There are ravines on either side of Dolphin’s Nose, includes St. Catherine Falls and Coonoor stream meeting the Kotagiri stream. It offers some breathtaking views of the magnificent Catherine Falls and surrounding areas.

Law’s Falls

Formed over Coonoor River, Law’s Falls is one of the magnificent waterfalls in Coonoor. Cascades down from a height of 30 feet, it is named after Col. Law, who constructed the new Coonoor ghat. Set inside the Coonoor forest range with vast stretches, it is one of the best places to visit in Coonoor. This pretty small waterfall draws more crowds during Monsoon.


Situated at an altitude of 1793 m, Kotagiri is one of the oldest and the 3rd largest hill station in the Nilgiris after Ooty and Coonoor. Located in the Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu, it is one of the charming Coonoor tourist places. It is considered as the first British settlement in the Nilgiris and preferred summer retreat till the road was built from Mettupalayam to Coonoor. Famous for its scenic beauty, Kotagiri is the places where the first coffee plantation was planted in 1843. Surrounded by tea estates and beautiful green landscapes, Kotagiri offers several trekking opportunities for adventure travellers.
