Four things you should never skimp on in life

0 points

Fast fashion is here to stay, and sites like Groupon have popularised the idea of getting everything for cheap. We’re all constantly bargain hunting to help our hard-earned money go that little bit further. But did you ever stop to think about the cost of your scrimping and saving? In the long-run, going cheap on something could cost you a lot more in the long run. Here are 4 things you should never go cheap on in life…

When you finally move out of that student house and get your first grown up apartment, you’ll probably still be cooking with old pans and blunt knives. If you ever want to graduate beyond pasta and pesto, you’re going to need to upgrade your kitchen equipment. Cheap pots and pans need replacing far more frequently, so it makes sense to invest in a high quality set and then make sure you take good care of them.

Dental care

Step away from the bargain bin teeth whitening kit! You only get one set of teeth in your life, and if you want them to last, you’re going to need to give them some attention. Private dental care doesn’t have to be expensive, and most dentists will even have a dental plan to help you spread the cost of treatment throughout the year. My local dentist Warrington is a private dentist, but I get 2 checkups and 2 hygienist visits per year. While I do pay for this every month, it’s saved me a lot of money because of the preventative care.

A decent bed

If you only invest in one grown up piece of furniture, make it a decent bed! A ratty old mattress won’t just keep you up at night, it can also have an impact on your health. From back and neck problems to problems with your circulation, it simply isn’t worth the health risks if you can afford to get yourself a better bed.

Essential clothes

We’re all guilty of loading up our wardrobes with this season’s latest fast fashion, but smart fashionistas know that quality is always better than quantity. There are some fashion staples that never go out of style, so it make sense to spend a little more on that perfect pair of blue jeans, a cashmere sweater or a stylish trench coat. Build a capsule wardrobe of essentials and you’ll never be stuck with nothing to wear again.
