Makerere University- Kampala, Uganda: This university is one of the best universities in Africa. It was founded in the year 1922 and is the oldest and the largest public university of Uganda. Available her for study are 145 undergraduate programs, 140 postgraduate programs, and over 135 masters programs. It consists of nine colleges and a school. 

University of Ghana at Legon- Accra, Ghana: This university is placed second at the top 10 universities in Africa. It is one of the oldest universities in Ghana and was founded in 1984. There are many fields of studies like social sciences, agriculture, nuclear physics, science, liberal arts, nuclear engineering, and medicine.

University of Nairobi- Nairobi, Kenya: This is one of the Great universities on the list of best universities in Africa. Founded in 1956, it is a collegiate research university. It is affiliated with ACU (The Association of Commonwealth Universities). There are many faculties and schools of studies available at the university such as veterinary medicine, arts, agriculture, public health, and physical science.

University of Ibadan- Ibadan, Nigeria: This university is placed fourth on the list of best universities in Africa. It is the oldest university in Nigeria and was founded in the year 1948. There are many faculties available at the university such as arts, sciences, agriculture and forestry, and veterinary medicine.

University of Botswana- Gaborone, Botswana: Placed fifth on the list of top universities in Africa, university of Botswana is the first higher educational institution of Botswana. It was founded in 1982 and has its campuses in four places- 2 in Gaborone, 1 in Francistown, and 1 in Maun. It has six faculties of engineering, humanities, social sciences, sciences, education, and business.
 
University of Lagos- Lagos, Nigeria: This university is known as another of the top universities in Africa. It has great affiliations the likes of which are AAU (Association of African Universities), ACU (Association of Commonwealth Universities), and NCU (National Universities Commission).

University of Dar Es Salaam- Dar Es, Salaam, Tanzania: On the seventh position of the top universities in Africa list is the University of Dar Es Salaam. It has affiliations with IAU (International Association of Universities) and AAU (Association of African Universities).

Ashesi University College- Berekuso, Ghana: This university was established in the year 2002. It is a liberal arts college and is non-profit. There are different faculties here such as computer science, mechanical engineering, computer engineering, and electrical and electronic engineering.

Addis Ababa University- Addis Ababa, Ethiopia: It was founded in the year 1950. It is a state university with many fields of studies available such as health sciences, business and economics, social sciences, and natural and computational sciences.

Cheikh Anta Diop University- Dakar, Senegal: It is also known as the University of Dakar. Founded in the year 1957, it has been named after the pioneer anthropologist and historian Cheikh Anta Diop. It has courses of studies available in humanities, sciences, medicine, and finance.
