Soak a cotton in undistilled witch hazel and apply the cotton on the piles. Do this at least three times a day. You can also use medicated pads that contain witch hazel. These pads are moist and can be used instead of a toilet paper. Try over-the-counter creams with witch hazel also. Witch hazel is a mild astringent that has several healing properties. It removes the discomforts that are brought about by piles. It shrinks inflamed blood vessels. It relieves pain, swelling, and itching. It can protect the anus from further irritation and microorganisms.

Other home treatments for piles are good toilet habits. Try to go to the loo at the same time every day. Don’t force yourself to go when you don’t need to and don’t hold it in either. Another home treatment for piles is a warm bath. You can also try changing your position when you are in the loo. If all else fails, go to the hospital. If your piles keep recurring and lead to severe bleeding, go to the hospital right away.
