Manchester is without a doubt a thriving city with countless things to see and do, so it is understandable that you might not know where to start! Here are some of the city’s highlights which will suit all ages and tastes, so have a look and be prepared to make some very special memories!
Arts and Culture
Manchester is jam-packed full of arts and culture of all kinds. For something more traditional, perhaps visit John Rylands Library which is one of Manchester’s most impressive buildings where you can discover exhibitions, explore the thousands and thousands of books or simply just relax. For something more modern why not meet Stan the T-Rex at the Manchester Museum with multiple fossilised collections. For those art lovers, visit one of the many galleries in the city to see why Manchester is recognised both locally and globally for its arts and culture. With so many diverse options, you have no excuse not to get involved!
Once again, Manchester is recognised all over the world for its legendry music scene. Appreciate world class jazz in Matt and Phred’s which is a free music venue Monday to Thursday (with a small charge over the weekends) offering live jazz, folk and soul, as well as a wide range of food and drink to make it a night to remember, as will Girls Club MCR. For something more classical, why not visit the BBC Philharmonic where you can experience classical music at its greatest. Following recent renovations, The Ritz has become one of the best music venues in Manchester. A big investment in the sound equipment has really paid off, and it offers big crowds the chance to watch great talent on a stage that has had the likes of The Stone Roses, The Beatles and Frank Sinatra previously. Known globally for its music industry, make the most of it on your trip to Manchester.
Food and Drink
Whatever you are looking for in terms of food, Manchester will be able to offer it to you. For an unforgettable evening, enjoy a meal in the centre of Manchester’s tallest building, Cloud 23 at The Hilton. Whether you’re alone in the city on a business trip (in which case you can use one of the escorts in Manchester) or taking a family trip you’ll find welcoming bars/restaurants all around the city. It has the most amazing views all over the city, with afternoon tea, a range of cocktails and stylish British cuisine just a few of the great options on the menu. For something more casual why not head down to Manchester’s China Town which is the second largest in the UK. It’s filled with a range of restaurants, shops and bakeries that can’t be missed.
It can be daunting trying to plan a day to keep the whole family entertained, but in Manchester you will be spoilt for choice. Visit the UK’s longest indoor ski slopes with great options for both teens and younger ones. There’s something for all ages meaning everyone can get involved. For something a bit more interactive, go behind the scenes at CBBC and let your little ones have a go at presenting the news and weather and is directed at ages 6 to 11 particularly. Why not go wild and meet 15,000 animals in the zoological gardens that Chester Zoo has to offer. Although it is slightly further out of Manchester, if you are willing to travel a little while it will definitely be worth it.
