7Kokrobite Beach, Ghana
Kokrobite Beach ranks #7 on our top 10 list of the best beaches in Africa.
Located along the Atlantic coast and 30 kilometers to the west of Accra, Kokrobite is the capital of Ghana.
It has a population of between 4000 and 6000, and we didn’t even count its visitors.
Kokrobite’s major tourist destinations are Bahdoosh (a beer bar), a hostel and restaurant located next to Bahdoosh, a resort named Big Milly’s Backyard, the Cool Breeze Hotel and of course, the beach.
This beach is the first thing you see on your way to Capecoast.
Did you know that this beach is home to the Academy of African music and arts?
We recommend to visit it on Saturday and Sunday, when the beach will be full of acrobats and musicians.
The beach received only positive reviews, such as:
1) ‘ I really enjoyed this beach. A group of friends (locals) and I stayed up late to watch for large turtles. Great Fun.’
2) ‘ I like this beach, a little more safe swimming here then other place in Ghana, kind of clean, enough shadow for the hot sun, safe with good sense, lovely children in the beach selling fruit. For any need and info ask Fred, close to the Big Milly he will help you.‘
