6. GMC (GM)
On number six and next on our list we have the American automobile division of the American manufacturer General Motors, GMC.
The company primarily focuses on trucks and utility vehicles, and sells pickup and commercial trucks, buses, vans, military vehicles, and sport utility vehicles.
Founded by William C. Durant on September 16, 1908, General Motors was a a holding company for Buick.
But in 1909, GM purchased the Rapid Motor Vehicle Company, forming the basis of the General Motors Truck Company, from which the “GMC Truck” brand name stand for.
In January 2007, the GMC company was General Motors’s second-largest-selling North American vehicle division after Chevrolet.
