2. Samsung
With only two more electronics brands on the list, we move on to the South Korean multinational conglomerate company Samsung.
With its headquarters in Samsung Town, Seoul, the Samsung company is the largest South Korean business conglomerate.
Founded by Lee Byung-chul in 1938, the South Korean company started as a trading company, but over the next three decades, the group diversified into areas including food processing, textiles, insurance, securities and retail.
In the late 60s, Samsung entered the electronics industry, and in the mid-70s in the construction and shipbuilding industries.
Samsung’s affiliate companies produce around a fifth of South Korea’s total exports, and its revenue was equal to 17% of South Korea’s $1,082 billion GDP.
