3. Ford Pinto
Produced between the years 1971 and 1980, the Pinto is a subcompact car produced by the Ford Motor Company.
The car initially came out as a two-door sedan, but by the following year, it was added a hatchback and a wagon model too.
The Ford Pinto competed in the United States market against the AMC Gremlin and Chevrolet Vega, with over 3 million units sold over a 10-year production run.
The Pinto would be later complemented by the German built, smaller front-wheel-drive Ford Fiesta, and formally replaced by the Escort for the 1981 model year.
