4. Chevrolet Volt
Starting its production in December 2010, the Volt model is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle manufactured by General Motors.
This car operates as a pure battery electric vehicle until its plug-in battery capacity drops to a predetermined threshold from full charge.
From there its internal combustion engine powers an electric generator to extend the vehicle’s range as needed.
The production model was officially unveiled on September 16, 2008 at the Wintergarden headquarters in Detroit, and was a part of the General Motors centennial celebration
The Chevrolet Volt can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (0–97 km/h) in just 9.2 seconds running on electric-only mode, and can reach a top speed of 00 mph (160 km/h).
