4. Land Rover Discovery
Produced since 1989, the Discovery model from Land Rover is a mid-size luxury SUV and was divided into four generations of the vehicle.
The Discovery I model, which was was introduced into the United Kingdom in 1989, and was manufactured until 1998.
The new model was based on a more upmarket Range Rover, but with a lower price aimed at a larger market segment, and was the only model with a four-cylinder petrol engine.
The Series II Discovery made its debute in autumn 1998 and in 1999 in the US.
The interior and exterior was re-worked, changes to the diesel engined models were made, in fact Land Rover stated that the Discovery Series II had suffered 720 modifications.
Land Rover Discovery 3 was introduced on 2 April 2004. Land Rover developed a body construction method for the Discovery 3, marketed as Integrated Body Frame, and it also featured full independent suspension.
And there’s one more, the Discovery 4, the one we know today, and which started its production in 2004.
Here, the majority of the changes are mechanical, but also, the new Discovery has altered some exterior aesthetic features to adopt the same smoother, rounder style as for the 2010 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport.
