4. Lexus RX
Produced since 1997, and sold since 1998, the RX model from Lexus is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV.
The car was originally released in its home market of Japan in late 1997 as the Toyota Harrier, but export sales began in March 1998 as the Lexus RX.
The first generation of RX models were fitted with a 3.0-liter V6 engine, while the Japanese market Toyota Harrier also offered a 2.2-liter inline-four, later uprated to 2.4-liters.
The Lexus RX had a particularly strong success in the US, where it has been the best-selling luxury SUV since its introduction.
