9. MERCEDES-BENZ W124 E-CLASS
W124 is the replacement model of W123 and is the Mercedes-Benz internal chassis-designation for the 1985 to 1995/96 version of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
The W124 is a mid-sized vehicle platform that was designed in order to last many miles, with awards actually given and worn by high mileage versions.
A lot of innovations incorporated in this model had been adopted throughout the industry, due to its engineering and many of its features.
The Mercedes Benz W124 E-Class had one of the lowest coefficient of drag of any vehicle of the time.
And all of that because of its aerodynamic body, which included plastic molding for the undercarriage to streamline airflow beneath the car, resulting in a reduced fuel consumption and wind noise.
