We have only two more cars on our 10 Best Mercedes Models of All Time list, and a lot of you might not recognize this car.
And that’s because the C111 was a series of experimental automobiles produced by Mercedes-Benz in the 1960s and 1970s.
The C111 was basically used as a testbed for the experiences made by Mercedes-Benz with new engine technologies, and turbochargers such as the Wankel engines and Diesel engines.
The first C111 was built in 1969 and featured a fiberglass body shell with a mid-mounted three-rotor direct fuel injected Wankel engine.
The second version of C111 appeared in 1970 and used a four-rotor engine producing 370 hp and could reach a speed of 290 km/h (180 mph).
