5. Rolls-Royce Phantom III
Introduced in 1936, and replacing the Phantom II, the Phantom III model was the final large pre-war Rolls-Royce.
Produced between the years 1936 and 1939, with 727 units built, the Rolls-Royce Phantom III was equipped with a 7338 cc V12 aluminium-alloy engine and a 4-speed manual transmission.
The Phantom III was the only V12 Rolls-Royce until the 1998 introduction of the Silver Seraph, and although chassis production ceased in 1939, Rolls-Royce Phantom III cars were still being bodied and delivered in 1940 and 1941.
A Phantom III model was tested in 1938 by “The English Autocar” magazine, and the result was a top speed of 140 km/h (87½ mph).
