2.James Redfield – The Celestine Prophecy
One of the best selling self published authors is James Redfield.
A former therapist, Redfield self published his first book back in 1993. The Celestine Prophecy is based on a spiritual and psychological journey. The story follows a narrator who wants to understand a series of nine spiritual insights on an ancient manuscript in Peru.
Redfield sold the first 100.000 copies on the trunk of his car, and later on Warner Books decided to publish his work.
In may 2005 the book had already sold over 20 million copies around the world and was on the New York Times Best Seller list for 165 weeks.
Translated into 34 languages, the book was transformed in 2006 into a film adaptation.
I take more from this book every time I read it.
