5. He denied his own theory
As a theoretical physicist, Stephen Hawking’s ultimate goal is to come up with a new equation to explain how the universe works. To understand where he stands in the world of science, you need to know about three main categories of scientific discovery in the field of physics first.
The first one is a hypothesis. It is an educated guess about an explanation for a set of observations. When there have been many scientists came up with the similar hypothesis and it is yet to be unproven, one may come up with a theory.
Then, once the theory has been proven through an experiment or observation or both, it becomes a law.
In his first theory, Hawking said that black holes emit radiation. But later on, he said that black holes don’t exist the way people perceive it.
