3.Yubari Melon
On number 8 we have another rare and expensive food, the Yubari Melon.
It seems like Japanese really love fruits, because the Yubari Melon belongs to them as well. Similar to a cantaloupe, but with a sweeter taste and a rounder shape, this melon costs less than our number 9, ranging from $60 to $150, but the best of them cost around $200.
In 2008 two of these melons sold for $26.000, so they must have been really tasty!
The Yubari Melon is grown in Yubari, on the island of Hokkaido, its sweet taste being given by the volcanic ash in the area’s soil.
