5. Iraqi Jewish Bible (Price: $100,000)
In 2003, Harold Rhode with the U.S invasion force searched through Saddam Hussein’s service headquarters in Baghdad. Then they found thousands of Iraq’s ancient artifacts in the flooded basement. And one of them was the Jewish Bible.
This Jewish Bible dates back to 1540. It means it is almost 500 years old. It was transferred to United States for conservation.
The Bible was in a bad condition. It was moldy because of the flood. And it has been torn in some parts. Besides this, they also found other precious manuscripts such as the Zohar (dated 1815), Babylonian Talmud (dated 1793), and Torah scroll fragment that includes parts of Book of Genesis.
This Jewish Bible is currently being conserved at the National Archives, Washington. Despite the bad condition, it is still worth at least $100,000.
