Despite the tragedy, Bali is actually one of the safest places to live in Indonesia. The crime rate here is extremely low. Balinese people believe in Karma. Thus, they tend to be good to others and avoid any conflicts.
If you get in trouble here, most locals will gladly help you. They are known for their hospitality. They love the fact that you come from a long way to visit.
This does not mean it is crime free though. You still have to be careful. It is just that you can be more relaxed to enjoy your vacation to the fullest.
