11. Syria
The CPI of Syria has gone up and down. In 2012, the country’s CPI score is 26. Then in 2013, it got worst to 17. However, it showed a slight improvement to 20 in 2014. And now it went downward again to 18.
Syria is well known for its corrupt business environment. This denies any opportunity for Syrian people in terms of economy and other freedoms.
The government grants no public access to any of their financial information. Despite that fact, in 2010, there were reports of government corruption.
Based on that, some of the mid-level and low-level officials were investigated and dismissed. However, other officials continued to engage in corrupt practices anyway.
