8. Venezuela
The world’s 8th most corrupt country is Venezuela. It is ranked the 158th among 168 countries in the world in terms of CPI. Venezuela scored 17 in 2015.
You would think that the discovery of a country’s natural resource will be a ticket to escape poverty. Unfortunately, this was not the case for Venezuela.
When they discovered oil in the early of twentieth century, their corruption problem got worse. A Venezuelan NGO claimed that $100 billion from oil revenue has been misused in 25 years.
Perhaps it is because of the country’s history of persistent and intense presence of corruption. The drug trading just makes it even worse.
