Tied with Eritrea on 154th rank is Turkmenistan. This country had been far from being open when it comes to financial transparency. Until WikiLeaks revealed its flaws.
Based on the WikiLeaks publications, experts see that Turkmenistan under the current president’s rule is even more corrupt. But somehow, the authorities managed to take the spotlight away from him.
There is no free private sector and emerging middle class to create jobs in Turkmenistan. The country is stuck in stagnancy.
There are no legal regulations in selecting companies to work on the national assets such as gas, construction, and health-care. It is all up to the president to choose.
