12. Yemen
Like Eritrea, Yemen is on the 154th rank with 18 points on the CPI score according to Transparency International. Like Eritrea, Yemen is struggling even to keep the number steady.
In 2012, the score was 23. Unfortunately, fiscal and administrative corruption continues to strain the country’s economy. Even since the 2012 massive street protest which brought national unity government as a result, there has been no significant improvement.
The culture of corruption has reached the core of Yemen. This started way back, over two decades ago. The former regime set corruption on a rampage.
Corruption appears in most aspects of both public and private sectors. One of the worst effects is the deteriorating quality of service delivery in fundamental areas.
