6. Creepy Clowns
This may not seem as a big issue compared to some others we have seen on this list. But this was pretty concerning. Whether it was just a prank, hoax, or actually true, this somehow represents both how our society react to viral news and how crime has evolved.
On August 29th, creepy clowns became a phenomenon. It was not just one, but hundreds of sightings were reported across United States. They said a creepy clown was trying to lure children into the woods.
It all started in South Carolina that day. And somehow, it became a national thing. Is this phenomenon true? Well, there was no missing children case reports related to any creepy clowns.
So, did those clowns work together across United States? Or it was just one case and the rest were copycats? Or was there even a creepy clown? Since there has been no solid proof to confirm this, we’ll leave that to you.
