Oprah Winfrey is one of the richest celebrities in the world, so you might think that she is not in need of money.
She makes so much money every year that it was once said she earns $1 million dollars a day.
But to be able to gain so much, she started from the bottom like everybody else.
She was paid a mere $35,000 for her Academy Award-nominated performance as Sofia in Steven Spielberg’s drama The Color Purple.
In the movie The Color Purple, which had a total gross of $140 million, Oprah played alongside Danny Glover.
The film was nominated for 11 Oscars, including one for Winfrey in the category of Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
