Best Christmas Destinations in the World

7Rome, Italy

In addition to Christmas festivities, Rome celebrates several other holidays in December.

Rome is a top Italian city to visit during the Christmas holiday season and it is also the place where the celebration of Christmas originated.

From December through January 6, tourists can find a Christmas market in Piazza Navona, Rome’s famous Baroque square, filled with stalls selling crafts, toys, seasonal treats and handmade gifts.

Also, each year, in Saint Peter’s Square, a huge Christmas tree awaits for visitors to take pictures with. And although Christmas trees are really not an Italian tradition, they become more and more popular.

In addition to the Saint Peter’s Square, Piazza Venezia and the Colosseum both have such amazing Christmas trees.

The city’s main streets are adorned with lights and often they have roving musicians and vendors selling roasted chestnuts.
