Le Bristol Paris is the best hotel in Paris in 2026 on our ranking, ahead of Hôtel Plaza Athénée and the Four Seasons Hotel George V. Nine of the ten hotels below hold France’s official Palace distinction in the 2026 list, which now counts 13 Paris hotels; the Ritz is the exception because it has not applied for it. We ranked them on our own scoring of service, setting, room quality and recent investment.

The 10 best hotels in Paris
1. Le Bristol Paris: family-owned Palace on Faubourg Saint-Honoré
Le Bristol opened in 1925 on rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. It is part of Oetker Hotels and is described as the only major luxury hotel in Paris still in European hands and not part of a chain or limited partnership.
That independence shows in the service, which is why it stays at the top of our list.
How we valued it: Judged on service consistency and independence. The ownership fact is from the hotel’s history; no price is quoted.
2. Hôtel Plaza Athénée: Palace on Avenue Montaigne
The Plaza Athénée is part of the Dorchester Collection and has about 208 rooms. A renovation of its fifth and sixth floors, adding 49 rooms and suites, was completed in 2025, so a good share of the hotel is freshly done.
The Avenue Montaigne address puts the fashion houses at the door. Official page: Hôtel Plaza Athénée.
How we valued it: Based on address and recent investment. The room count and renovation come from 2025 to 2026 reporting.
3. Four Seasons Hotel George V: Palace, 8th arrondissement
The George V opened in 1928 on Avenue George V and is known for some of the most expensive suites in France. It is a Palace in the 2026 list.
Choose it for big rooms, a strong spa and a Golden Triangle location.
How we valued it: Ranked on suite quality. The Palace status comes from the 2026 list.
4. The Ritz Paris: Place Vendôme classic
The Ritz was founded in 1898 by César Ritz and was renovated again from 2012 to 2016. Its Suite Impériale is listed by the French state as a national monument, and Bar Hemingway remains one of the best-known hotel bars in the city.
The hotel has not applied for the Palace label, so it sits outside the official list but not outside our top five. Official page: Ritz Paris.
How we valued it: Scored on history and service. The renovation dates come from the hotel’s history.
5. Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel: Palace on Place de la Concorde
The Crillon opened as a hotel in 1909 in a building dating to 1758, and has 78 rooms and 46 suites. It was renovated from 2013 to 2017 and named a Palace in September 2018.
Older guides that still call it closed or about to reopen are out of date.
How we valued it: Judged on setting and the finished renovation.
6. Cheval Blanc Paris: new Palace in 2026
Cheval Blanc Paris, the LVMH hotel on the Seine, is one of three Paris names added to the Palace list in 2026, according to Atout France’s release. Trade coverage disagrees on whether it was new or renewed, so we treat its Palace status as confirmed but its date as uncertain.
It brings a modern, fashion-led style to a list full of traditional houses.
How we valued it: Based on newness and standard. The Palace date is reported inconsistently, so we list it as reported.
7. Bvlgari Hotel Paris: new Palace in 2026
Bvlgari Hotel Paris is one of the 2026 additions to the Palace list. The brand is the jeweller’s hotel line, run in a joint venture with Marriott that started in 2001.
Expect Italian design and a jewellery-house level of finish.
How we valued it: Ranked on newness and brand standard.
8. Shangri-La Paris: Palace near the Eiffel Tower
The Shangri-La Paris is in the 16th arrondissement and holds Palace status in 2026. It is the pick if the Eiffel Tower view is the priority.
It is our Eiffel-view recommendation.
How we valued it: Scored on views and service.
9. The Peninsula Paris: Palace in the 16th
The Peninsula Paris is on the 2026 Palace list. It suits travellers who want large, modern rooms and strong dining within a short ride of the main sights.
It reflects the wave of international groups that built Palace-level hotels in Paris.
How we valued it: Judged on room size and facilities.
10. Le Royal Monceau: Palace, 8th arrondissement
Le Royal Monceau holds Palace status in 2026. Trade listings have placed rates from about 1,200 euros a night, but that figure comes from a travel blog and we could not confirm it.
It is known for art and design, with a strong cultural programme.
How we valued it: Based on design identity. Price is unverified.
Dropped or changed since our last list
Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme, the old number 4, is no longer on the 2026 Palace list, and the Mandarin Oriental Paris is also absent from the Palace list; both hotels may still operate, but we cannot rank them without a current check. We also dropped Radisson Blu Le Metropolitan, Hôtel Lancaster and Hotel de Sers because we could not verify their current standard. The old list’s Crillon entry said it would reopen in 2015; it did not fully reopen until after renovation finished in 2017.
New luxury openings are coming: one trade source lists the 118-room Sax Paris (LXR) and the Maybourne Saint-Germain, planned for 2027. We do not rank hotels that have not opened.
