2. McLaren P1
Taking its place in the best looking cars of 2014 list is yet another limited-production plug-in hybrid, a super car made by the British manufacturer McLaren Automotive.
Once a concept car that made its first appearance at the Paris Motor Show in 2012, the P1 is considered to be the long-awaited successor of the F1.
First presented at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, the production version of the McLaren P1 will be strictly limited to 375 units in order to maintain its exclusivity.
Like the Porsche 918 Spyder, the McLaren P1 also makes its appearance in the well known game series Need for Speed Rivals and Forza Motorsport 5, and also on the big screens in the Need for Speed movie.
Beneath its carbon-fibre outer shell, the car is made from all sorts of exotic materials giving it a power-to-weight ratio of well over 600 bhp per tonne and firing from 0-100 mph in less than 6 seconds.
Put in motion by two different power sources, the McLaren P1 guests under its hood a 3.8-litre V8 twin-turbo engine, and an electric motor that uses a brace of lithium ion batteries.
Recognized as world leader in carbon technology, the McLaren P1 design and materials used in making it offer a safe, agile, durable, efficient and comfortable ride.
“To drive this car in its fastest mode you need to be absolutely on top of your game”
Just like a Formula 1 car, the McLaren P1 was designed from the outset to prioritise aerodynamic performance.
The interior of the McLaren P1 is clear from clutter and distraction, the cabin being fully focused on the driver and offering him a comfortable drive.
The comfortable cabin is efficiently packaged and retains luxury features such as full climate control and satellite navigation.
As McLaren itself says it, the P1 is the ultimate expression of the engineering expertise, intelligent, adaptive and blisteringly quick.
