10Dos Palillos
We begin our top 10 list with Dos Palillos, located at Carrer d’Elisabets, 9.
The fine dining restaurant welcomes you on Tuesday and Wednesday from 19:30 to 23:30 and from Thursday to Saturday from 13:30 to 15:30 and from 19:30 to 23:30.
The Michelin-starred restaurant (received its first Michelin star on November 2012) offers authentic Asian dishes, served in the Spanish tapas style.
All created by Chef Albert Raurich, former chef at the famous ‘El Bulli’.
Seafoods, fresh vegetables, prawn, meat, tuna, fish, raw dishes, grilled dishes, steamed dishes … all of these are waiting for you.
9Pla
Next on our top list is Pla, located at Bellafila, 5, one of the alleys of the Gothic Quarter. It is the ideal place for a romantic dinner.
This intimate restaurant serves modern cuisine, with both Catalan and international influences.
We recommend octopus carpaccio, baba ganoush with smoked eel and green apple, Iberian pork ‘presa’, beef filled with grilled foie, and all the vegetarian dishes.
This year, Pla received the Certificate of Excellence and only positive reviews, such as: 1) ‘We accidentally came across this place as we were walking around looking for a place to eat and I’m so glad we did.
The good was great and the service on point. I highly recommend. It us fresh, delicious, elegant and you won’t feel like another tourist that needs to be served quickly to turn the table.’
2) ‘Lovely restaurant with a warm, romantic atmosphere. Service was excellent as was the food. Marinated pork fillet and Iberian ham were a great start matched by succulent steak and a shoulder of lamb cooked with liquorice. We shared a fabulous chocolate dessert with flavours of liquorice and wasabi.’
8Set Portes
Located at Passeig Isabel II, 14, Set Portes was originally named The Seven Doors Cafe, and later The Seven Doors Restaurant.
That happened in 1929, when Mr. and Mrs. Morera became the new managers.
Today, this place is one of the best luxury restaurants in Barcelona. It is open every day of the year and features several rooms of different sizes. Seven Portes offers traditional Catalan and Mediterranean cuisine and impeccable service. We guarantee!
Using the freshest vegetables, olive oil, the right herbs, the finest meats and fish, the dining place offers some of the most unique meals you’ll ever taste.
And we recommend the rabbit paella, zarzuela or the black paella with aioli sauce.
7Tast-Ller
Located at Montcada 4, 2-1, few steps away from the Picasso Museum, Tast-Ller offers many gastronomic experiences.
As some of the reviewers said, this luxury restaurant is not an ordinary restaurant. It gives you the feeling like a private chef is cooking only for you.
And you’ll love Chef Mikel Peinador. He makes sure you’ll receive unique dishes.
Tast-Ller is an ideal place for sharing with your family and friends, or to hold meetings in a cool atmosphere, where they guarantee you’ll feel at home.
6Sauc
Named after an enderberry plant with curative powers, Sauc is managed by Xavier Franco and is well known for its quality, food and impeccable service.
The Michelin-starred restaurant is located at Via Laietana, 49, and offers an unforgettable culinary experience.
Highlights include Catalan morcilla, which is a black pudding dish, famous in Barcelona.
Also, we recommend the restaurant’s chocolate and passion fruit pudding, which earned positive reviews from some of the most demanding critics.
5Big Fish
Located on Carrer Comercial, 9, Big Fish features a cool interior by local designer Lazaro Rosa-Violan,
Chesterfield sofas, tables and chairs, a cascading mother-of-pearl chandelier…These make the restaurant a must visit!
The menu offers a mixture of Japanese, Mediterranean and fusion seafood cuisine.
For those of you who only want to enjoy a drink, Big Fish has a small bar area, where you can enjoy cocktails, as well as occasional DJ sessions.
4Chez Coco
On #4 we have Chez Coco, located at Avinguda Diagonal, 465. If you’re going on a date, this is the place.
Also, this is a convivial place to come with your group of friends.
Chez Coco features plunging chandeliers, cobalt blue upholstery on the booths and banquettes, and an open kitchen hung with copper pans.
They serve a French menu, but we recommend the fried poussin and fat wedge chips.
They come with a reasonable price.
3Via Veneto
Via Veneto is a restaurant located at Carrer de Ganduxer, 10, and has re-created a beautiful Belle Epoque-style setting.
The place features a dining room where the service is impeccable.
They serve traditional cuisine with a modern twist, all, of course, prepared using the finest and freshest products.
Not to mention, they have an impressive wine list (10.000 bottles).
We recommend tagliolini pasta with free-range eggs, served with white truffle.
Opened since 1967, Via Veneto was a favorite of Salvador Dali and it can also be yours! Today, the place is filled with local sports stars and politicians.
2Cinc Sentits
First of all, Cinc Sentits is Barcelona’s premier restaurant. Also, it has achieved recognition within the city for the ingredients from throughout Spain.
Chef Jordi Artal offers you the 5-course Essencia and the 7-course Sensacions, as well as some of his unique dishes, such as pigeon.
You can also choose the Gastronomic menu, but that’s a bit expensive.
The restaurant’s seafood is always of the highest caliber. The butter from Pyrenees, veal from Galicia, foie gras and duck from Bajo Empordan blend perfectly.
1Acces
Our journey ends here, at Carrer Aribau, 55. As some would call it ‘Barcelona’s best kept secret’, Acces is truly amazing in many ways and it deserves its place on #1.
Its unique and extravagant design will have you astonished upon arrival.
They serve Mediterranean cuisine and tasteful dishes made by professional Chefs, who can be observed through the open kitchen.
Acces features 2 areas. One is the restaurant which has a capacity of 80 covers. The second one is the lounge, with a capacity of 35 covers and a DJ cabin.
