Piriapolis is an important summer resort in the country, and it includes Playa Grande, Playa Hermosa, Playa Verde, Punta Colorada, Punta Negra, Ocean Park, Barra de Portezuelo, La Capuera, Puntas de la Sierra, La Falda, Miramar, Colonia V Suarez, Sauce de Portezuelo and Sierras del Tirol.
Founded in 1890, by Francisco Piria, this location was first named ‘El Baneario del Porvenir, meaning ‘the Resort of the Future’. And today, it has a tourism-centered economy, with large casinos, public parks, luxury hotels and a very active nightlife. Perfect for tourists who seek unforgettable nights.
Some of its places of interest are the Templo de San Antonio, which it can be reached by chair lift, and the Cerro Pan de Azucar, which can be found 10 km outside of town.
