2Palacio Salvo
Any trip to Uruguay is incomplete without a visit of its capital, and of Palacio Salvo.
Located at the intersection of 18 de Julio Avenue and Plaza Independencia, this impressive building was designed by the Italian immigrant and architect Mario Palanti, who used a similar design for his Palacio Barolo, located in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
As the name says, the 29-storey Palacio Salvo was bought by the Salvo brothers for 650.000 Uruguayan pesos.
Although it supposed to be a hotel, now the site is a mixture of offices and private residences.
It’s structure is amazing and sure is a must-see!
