5- Lays – 633 million bags/ year
I am having these chips as we speak! You should too; otherwise the story wouldn’t be so good.
Lays is a brand of potato chips known worldwide by different names. For example, in United Kingdom and Ireland it’s Walkers, Smith’s in Australia, Chipsy in Egypt and so on.
Founded in 1932 salesman Herman Lay opened a snack food in Dorset, Ohio. The business went so well than in 1938 he bought the Atlanta’s potato chip manufacturer “Barrett Food Company” and renamed it in “H.W. Lay Lingo & Co.”
He crossed the southern U.S. selling the product from the truck of his car.
Starting from 1965, Lays has been owned by PepsiCo.
