The melon-faced dolls were a sensation when first came on the market. People would line up for hours, fought each other for them and even bought and sold them at amazing prices.
In 2013 the dolls had their 30th anniversary which marked the selling of over 130 million Cabbage Patch dolls. The dolls had an initial price of $24.99.
Today, they can go for twice that much retail and even higher through private sales.
The creator of such a toy was Xavier Roberts, a billionaire whose toys remained one of the most beloved toys in history.
