4.Simit Bread and Kokoreç in Turkey
And welcome to Turkey, the land of the amazing food.
There a lot of delicious street foods in Turkey, but the two of them considered the most popular are the Simit bread and Kokoreç.
The Simit Bread is usually eaten for breakfast, and it’s kind of a bigger bagel, and covered in sesame seeds, or sometimes poppy seeds.
Kokoreç (or Kokoretsi) is a dish made of lamb or goat intestines, often wrapping sweetbreads, hearts, lungs or kidneys. The ingredients are seasoned with lemon, olive oil, oregano, salt and pepper, and after they are threaded onto a long skewer, they are wrapped with the intestine to hold them together.
I know, it doesn’t sound so tasty, but it seems like people just love it. The meaty food is served on a piece of flat-bread, or in a baguette.
