9. Skol (Sales Revenue: $9.7 billion)
On 9th and 8th position are top two bestselling beer brands from Calrsberg Group. And this company dates way back to the year of 1847 when it was first founded in Denmark.
Being one of the oldest and leading beverage companies in the world, it should come as no surprise that it has come up with more than 500 brands of beer. When it was first invented, Skol was actually a global beer brand from a company called Skol International. Long story short, the company merged with Carlsberg. And now this bestselling beer brand is sold under Carlsberg’s license except in Africa and South America (under AB InBev).
Today, Skol became sort of Brazilian local beer, but also sold worldwide. It is indeed the most popular beer brand in that country even though it was not originated from there.
“Skol is a light, easy drinking Pils-style lager which has a fruity, slightly hoppy taste and a short, soft finish. With an alcohol content of 2.8%, Skol is a mid-strength lager brewed only with the finest ingredients to give a satisfying and refreshing taste.” – carlsberggroup.com
Four 440-ml cans of Skol lager are sold at around $2.5. How much Carlsberg and AB InBev are making from selling this beer? We’ll discuss that on the following pages.
