9.Charlie Trotter – 4.000 bottles
Up next we are talking about Charlie Trotter.
Former American chef and restaurateur Charlie Trotter rose to fame as a chef in the late 80s, his Charlie Trotter’s restaurant being one of the best restaurants in the world, until it shut down in 2012.
Trotter had an amazing collection of 4.000 bottles before he put it up for auction, the most notable being the magnum bottles he owned. He was even sued by two brothers who accused him of selling them a counterfeit magnum bottle of 1945 Domaine de la Romanee-Conti.
Trotter’s collection was one of a kind thanks to his 1.5 litres bottles of premium wines.
Unfortunately, Charlie died of a stroke in late 2013.
