What is M Restaurant?
M was created by veteran restaurateur Martin Williams, who described his goal as a boutique hotel without any rooms. Rene Dekker’s studio, best known for residential interiors, was chosen to bring that homely feel to a large commercial restaurant.

“We were asked by veteran restaurateur, Martin Williams, to design the interior for the new M Restaurant. The flagship restaurant covers 12,000 square feet, and our studio was responsible for defining the brand interior and creating a scheme which offered a unique fusion of commercial and residential details. “ – Rene Dekker
What does it look like inside?
The ground floor has two rooms. M Grill uses teal banquettes, chocolate brown tweed armchairs, faux eel-skin wallpaper and a timber feature wall with gold leaf. M Raw is calmer, with soft grey fabrics, bleached oak and a stone bar. Upstairs, the mezzanine holds a cocktail bar, a wine tasting bar, a private dining room and a members’ room called the Den, and the lower ground floor adds two more private dining rooms.

Is there more than one M?
Yes. A second restaurant, M Victoria, opened in the Zig Zag Building with a different look and three floors. We have not rechecked whether each venue is open or what the menus now cost, so confirm opening hours and prices with the restaurant before you book.
Is it worth a visit?
Our view: go for the rooms as much as the food. It suits a group dinner or a special occasion in the City better than a quick lunch.
