51966 Ford GT 40 MK2
If you remember the 5th movie, the ‘Fast Five’, then you know the scene where Dom and his crew robbed 2 classic cars from a moving train.
And one of the stolen cars was the Ford GT40, which is a replica provided by Michigan-based ‘Race Car Replicas’.
The original model of this car was built to beat Ferrari racecars on the racetrack.
And it did! Four years in a row, at the 24 Hours Le Mans.
The MK2 features a 7.0 litre FE engine from the Ford Galaxie, which was an engine used in NASCAR.
In order to handle the powerful engine, a new Kar Kraft-built 4 speed gearbox was built, replacing the ZF 5-speed used in the 1966 Ford GT 40 MK1.
