5. Russia: 88 Billionaires
In nominal GDP aspect, Russia ranked as the 13th world’s largest economy. Its nominal GDP is $1.178 trillion. Seems like the declining oil and gas price did not bother this country that much.
Russia has enormous natural resources, especially oil and gas. There are 88 billionaires recorded in Russia. And most of them plant their business over Russia’s natural resources.
On top of the list is the 60th world’s richest man, Leonid Mikhelson. He is also focusing in oil and gas industry. His net worth is $14.4 billion.
Mikhelson’s main business is the gas-processing and petrochemical company, Sibur. Sinopec, a Chinese state owned company, recently bought 10% of Sibur for $1.3 billion.
