6. Azerbaijan – Debt Deficit: 5.9% of GDP
The first time I heard about Azerbaijan was when it is mentioned as Zinedine Zidane’s origin country. Others may know the it as one of the countries under the rule of Soviet Union.
Now, it comes in at sixth rank of countries with least debt deficit list with 5.9% public debts of its $74,145 gross domestic product (GDP).
Azerbaijan is the first Muslim majority country which is a secular republic. It is the home of Petroglyphs in Gobustan, one of UNESCO World Heritage Sites due to its outstanding universal value.
Like several other countries on this list, Azerbaijan is enriched by oil and gas resources. As a small country, the home of only 9.3 million people, Azerbaijan is been able to use its organic prosperity for fuel development and government expenditure. This has helped the country keep its public debts low, even as it expands investments in the structure.
