12. Giovanni Brusca (born 1957)
Sometimes you would wonder, does a hitman keep track of his body counts? Does he remember the number of people he has taken down? We’ll never really know.
But we do know for Giovanni Brusca’s case, he could not remember the exact number. During his in absentia trial, it was stated that he committed around 100-200 murders. He was sentenced to life and finally captured in 1996.
Giovanni was a mafia boss in Sicily, Italy. He is known by many vicious nicknames. And the most popular are U’Verru or The Swine and U scannacristiani or The Slayer. He was indeed a ruthless killer. Back in 1993, he kidnapped an 11-year-old boy, tortured him for more than two years, strangled him to death, and dissolved his body in a barrel of acid. All of those just to get the little boy’s father to retract his testimony against him in court.
He has been imprisoned since the day he was captured. He has also been cooperating with the Italian authorities to give insights of the mafia world.
