9. Denmark is the 5th nation to lift the trophy
Since it was first held in 1949, twenty seven nations have competed to clinch the Thomas Cup title. But there are only five among them succeeded.
Denmark’s victory made it as the 5th nation to lift the trophy. On the last tournament in 2014, Japan made it as the 4th. Before that, the trophy was lifted only by three nations in turns: Indonesia, China, and Malaysia.
Indonesia leads the winners’ board with 13 wins and 6 runner ups. China is in second place with 9 wins and 2 runner ups. And Malaysia is in third place with 5 wins and 9 runner ups.
Denmark has finally proven that it belongs at the top seeds alongside these three Thomas Cup giants. Can Denmark keep it up in 2018?
