8. Denmark is almost title-less
As it was mentioned earlier, Denmark has the most appearances among any other nations on Thomas Cup. The nation has been competing on this tournament since it was first held in 1949.
After 29 attempts, Denmark has finally won the title. It was a sweet victory. But it took 67 years of gruesome hard work.
Even on its own tournament, Denmark has been struggling. Since before the World War II, Denmark holds an annual badminton tournament, the Denmark Open.
Denmark proves itself as a strong competitor. Yet, both of its men’s singles and doubles haven’t won any title in Denmark Open for five consecutive years since 2011. The Chinese and South Korean have been dominating the tournament these last few years.
