7. Denmark came as the second favorite
In every sport tournament, each participant will go through a drawing process. There is a seeding list to help decide which participant goes to which half of the draw. This list is based on the overall score or points received from the past tournaments.
Same thing goes to badminton. All nations competing in the world’s tournaments will receive points according to their achievement on the tournaments itself.
Before the last Thomas Cup, the World Rankings of badminton was updated on March 3rd, 2016. Based on that, Denmark was on the second place after the host, China.
Unfortunately, China was defeated by South Korea in quarterfinal. Nevertheless, we could have had a thrilling final between the top two seeds.
