Denmark has made the most attempts to win the Thomas Cup compared to any other nations even the top three nations.
The nation had come so close to winning for many times before. Denmark had to see the trophy slipped away for eight times prior to this victory. Last week’s final was Denmark’s 9th final on Thomas Cup.
Denmark was close to winning the first ever Thomas Cup in 1949. But Malaysia (back then, it was Malaya) took it away.
Besides that, Denmark was forced to be content with second place in 1955, 1964, 1973, 1979, 1996, 2004, and 2006. Ten years since its last final, Denmark stepped up and grabbed the first place.
