This $3.7 Million Eco-Friendly Villa is Located below Ground

Talking about luxurious homes with a bit of twist: this $3.7 million eco-friendly villa, located below ground!

The home fit for a Hobbit, and you’ll get to have the luxury version of it, which is also eco-friendly.

If you are the type of person who worries about the environment, the best place to build your home is underground.

And this could work for you! Known as the ‘underground homes’ or ‘low-impact houses’, these types of homes minimize the amount of green space used by placing the entire building below ground.

This underground home was an idea that two English firms had NC Homes and Huntsmere- who have come up with an underground villa that’s luxurious as a conventional, above-the-soil structure.

Named Perdu, this low-impact home is a circular three-bedroom home located on the grounds of Bowdon in Manchester.

When you design and build a place underground, there’s always the problem of having ample natural light.

To resolve this problem, they thought Perdu should have a dome-shaped passage in the center that allows the natural light to get through.

That’s the villa’s only eco-friendly feature; it includes a rainwater harvesting, a heat exchange system, and hot water, which is warmed with the help of solar tubes.

But besides that, Perdu is just like other homes out there. It has a full kitchen, living area, bedrooms and workout space.

There is also a swimming pool that is complete with a waterside. At the first doesn’t look any different than any other English garden, complete with perfectly manicured grass, ornate monuments and outdoor seating.

However, this eco-friendly space doesn’t come cheap. If you like to be the owner you have to pay approximately $3.7 million.

In an online listing, NC Homes writes that the property ‘makes an extraordinary statement without the visual impact of an ordinary house’.

It adds: ‘Hidden underneath a landscaped, classical English garden is a contemporary earth sheltered house. Being underground means that the house has a more stable environment, the temperature remains constant and the house is very quiet and peaceful.

‘It also minimises the loss of green space, as being underground the roof remains available for plants.’

Now that you’ve seen how this place looks and what it can do, tell us what you think!
