10. City of Dreams, Macau ($2.4 billion | $2.7 billion today)
We are reaching the top 10 and it looks like the casinos are taking over our most expensive buildings list. City of Dreams in Macau is also a casino resort.
It appears that the designer of this building, Arquitectonica, was trying to replicate Las Vegas’s Bellagio theme. You get that sense from one of the building’s signature attractions, the dancing water theater. Holding around 14,000 m3 of water, this is the largest commercial pool in the world.
Besides that, there are also two other installations. They are the bubble fountain (a 2.4 meters water sphere) and Vquarium (a four-wall virtual aquarium).
City of Dreams was built in 2009. The construction cost was $2.4 billion or $2.7 billion today. This building has 37 floors and 164-meter height. It is currently owned by Melco Crown Entertainment.
