8. Australian Parliament, Australia ($1.1 billion | $3 billion today)
Spoiler alert, the Australian Parliament is the only government building you will see on our list. This Parliament House cost $1.1 billion to build in 1981, or $3 billion today. That is massive government spending.
This building contains around 4,700 rooms. Within its Ministerial Wing is where the prime minister and other ministers work. Besides that, there are also the House of Representatives and Senate building.
The Parliament House is not just the home to working Australian politicians, but also to over 6,000 art collections. Those artworks are significant to Australian history and heritage.
